New food truck gives West Ashleyanother intriguing breakfast option
from Staff Reports
West Ashley has seen a lot of breakfast spots come and go over the last year or so. Famous Toastery, Sunflower Café, Black Magic, and Gathering Café have all either closed or moved to locations outside of West Ashley. On the other side, we’ve seen Eggs Up Grill, Blazing Star Café, and Ruby Sunshine set up shop here. With all the coming and going, its not surprising that West Ashley’s newest breakfast joint comes with wheels.
Late last month, Daddy’s Breakfast & Espresso Food Truck owners Kristina Ogden and Brian England announced their grand opening. With their signature items of breakfast sandwiches and baby cakes (fried chicken wrapped in a pancake), Daddy’s Food Truck offers a unique and delicious addition to the local breakfast scene.
Daddy’s will be a semi-regular fixture outside of the Citadel Mall and they have also set up shop at HYLO in West Ashley. Along with kitchen manager Mary Langebartel, Ogden and England have worked tirelessly to bring their vision to life and are thrilled to share their love of breakfast food with the local community.
“We wanted to offer something different, something that wasn’t available in Charleston. Coffee is a ritual for us and we are big breakfast enthusiasts, “ says Ogden. “We’re excited to bring our passion for delicious food to the people of Charleston.”
Ogden and England are confident that customers will be impressed with the quality and taste of their offerings. What sets Daddy’s apart are the protein options, including fried chicken, bacon, sausage, ham, chorizo, and even pork roll, popular in the northeast but a rare find here in Charleston.
Daddy’s serves Counter Culture Coffee, offering espresso, cappuccinos, lattes, and Americanos, in addition to a seasonal sip. Right now, Daddy’s seasonal coffee is a delightful orange foam cold brew.
Currently, Daddy’s Food Truck can be found at the Citadel Mall from 7 a.m.-12 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and at a number of events throughout the Charleston area. Check out its social media pages to see where Daddy’s is rolling up to next.
