Decades later, the “Avondale Movie” provides a historic trip down the memory lane of one of West Ashley’s oldest business districts

Sometime during the 1950s, a business entrepreneur was considering opening a liquor store in the Avondale Business District. In order to support his application, he made a movie of the area to illustrate the businesses along the highway. Thus the “Avondale Movie” came to be.  Fast-forward about 50 years and this treasured gem was transferred from 8 mm to VCR tape By Betty Rosen and shared with me. When it became necessary to convert to DVD format, still frames were “captured” and included with the movie. Enjoy!
