Entering into her third year of high school, Amanda Eubanks has become a leader in every aspect of the word. According to drama teacher Nancy Shurlds. [Eubanks] is a leader, a volunteer, possesses integrity, and is an asset to any class. She has helped me tremendously by teaching dances when my back began to hurt. She is pleasant, friendly, efficient, and admirable. Obviously, I think a lot of this young lady!”
Since her early years in high school, Eubanks has been a part of West Ashley High School’s chapter of the Junior varsity cheerleading squad. This year, she will now be a part of the varsity cheerleading squad and she considers this to be one of her greatest achievements.
When asked what her greatest strengths and weaknesses are, Eubanks thought long and hard before replying that her greatest strength is caring about everyone while her greatest weakness might just be caring too much.
Eubanks was ecstatic when she was told that she had been chosen as the first West Of Student of the Month for the 2015-2016 school year, saying she was very exciting to be chosen for such an honorable title by her teachers.
Eubanks says she strives to be a leader who sets examples of great behavior for her classmates and hopes to display them at all times. In addition, she often gives advice to her classmates and peers. One such word of advice is: “Everyone should always be true to themselves. You should not try to be something or someone you are not.” Eubanks also believes that everyone should dream big and keep their options open. “You should pursue your dreams and do what makes you happy,” she says.
Along with Cheerleading, some of her favorite activities at WAHS are drama and nail tech classes. Eubanks enjoys these two classes because she loves to act and she likes doing her nails. “[Eubanks] shows creative capability and self motivation to complete her goals and to become part of this exciting and growing profession,” says nail tech teacher Helen Shepherd. “She eagerly embraces new information and pushes the limits to become a professional nail technician.”
When Eubanks graduates in the Spring of 2017, she hopes to attend Florida State University where she plans to study Nursing and basic medicine. While she is excited to go off to college and to pursue her chosen profession, Eubanks knows she needs to focus on her studies and enjoy the time she has left in high school. She knows that when she graduates at the end of next year, she will miss all of the people she has come to know during her time at West Ashley High.
