Barbecue Stars Align

Back for a second consecutive year, Harrison Sapp and Griffin Bufkin of Southern Soul Barbeque on St. Simons Island, Ga. will join fellow pitmasters and friends Aaron Siegel, Taylor Garrigan, and Madison Ruckel of Home Team BBQ to host a Backyard BBQ at Home Team BBQ’s West Ashley location.
Joining the professional pitmasters will be professional golfer Davis Love III, a friend of Home Team BBQ and Southern Soul BBQ, who will be the Celebrity guest pitmaster for the evening cooking alongside the other restaurants. The event is set for Friday, December 5 starting at 7 p.m. and will be a fundraiser for Grow Food Carolina.
For the event, the pitmasters will prepare a variety of barbecue including whole hog and brisket along with an assortment of Southern snacks and sides. Specialty cocktails will be offered by High Wire Distilling Co. and beer served by Holy City Brewing and patrons will receive three drink tickets with the ticket. A cash bar will also be available.
Williams Oyster Knives of John’s Island will be onsite selling their custom designed products. Rodeo Clown — a Stringband Tribute to the Grateful Dead — will entertain attendees with live music. The event will take place on the outdoor patio and in the parking lot of the restaurant.
The second annual Backyard BBQ Pitmaster Dinner will be held 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5 at Home Team BBQ, located at 1205 Ashley River Road. Tickets are limited and cost $45 per person.
