The oldest shopping center in South Carolina, the South Windermere Shopping Center, opened in 1954 and remains a focal point of the community and a commercial center for West Ashley six decades later. To celebrate this year’s milestone anniversary, the shop owners are hosting A Night at South Windermere, the center’s first annual holiday event, on Wednesday, Nov. 12, from 4-9 p.m.
West Ashley residents are invite to shop, sip, and stroll beneath thousands of holiday lights and enter to win a Gift Basket, filled with more than $500 worth of merchandise and gift certificates from participating stores.
Retailers will extend their hours, with most shops staying open until 9 p.m. or later, and neighborhood restaurants are offering specials on drinks and appetizers throughout the evening.
West Ashley-based food truck Lunch Box and King of Pops will be on location, parked near the West Ashley Library. Participating brick-and-mortar vendors include Half-Moon Outfitters, Urban Nirvana, Charleston Sweet Gourmet, Mister Don Shoes & Dance, Phillips Shoes, Charleston Revisions, Open House, Embroidery Boutique, Arsenal, Oskar’s Family Barber Shop, Little Open House (now open!), The Med Eatery & Bar, YoBo Cantina, and many more.
