As a way to promote a college and career focus at Advanced Studies Magnet West Ashley and in recognition of National Pharmacist month, the middle school’s guidance department invited Samantha Sandolfa to speak to some of the students.
Sandolfa is a pharmacy resident at the Medical University of South Carolina, finishing up her degree in Pharmacy Administration. On Thursday, October 17 Dr. Sandolfa met with a group of 20 students in the Media Center to talk about how she became interested in pharmacy work, the education requirements she needed to become a pharmacist, and the skills that students would need to nurture in order to be prepared for a career in pharmacy.
The students were then given time to ask questions about Dr. Sandolfa’s daily expectations, the things she enjoys most (and least) about her job, courses they would need to focus on in high school, ethical dilemmas she encounters, and much more.
