Middle school to open its doors in the fall of 2019
Charles Towne Montessori (CTM) in West Ashley announced today they will begin offering an Adolescent Program in Fall 2019 for 7th and 8th year students. This initiative includes the construction of a new building to house the middle school at their campus in West Ashley.
“Bringing an AMI [Association Montessori Internationale] Montessori adolescent program to Charleston has been a goal of the CTM Board of Trustees for several years,” says Morgan Futch, Board Chair. “We are responding to parents’ desires to extend AMI Montessori education through the adolescent cycle and prepare students for any high school experience, public or private.”
The adolescent curriculum will be developed by Elizabeth Seney, a Montessori curriculum writer and former adolescent community guide at the renowned Hershey Montessori School in Ohio. Seney specializes in the development of integrated curriculum with a focus on Montessori principles and meaningful work.
“I’m looking forward to writing the adolescent curriculum for the CTM community because the staff, parents, and board are dedicated and enthusiastic,” Seney says. “With such dedicated support from adults, and the rich cultural and geographical area of Charleston, adolescents have limitless possibilities for great work.”
CTM is currently accepting applications for enrollment in the adolescent program. Parents may contact Susan Burkhardt, Interim Head of School, at admin@ctmlife.com, or call (843)-571-1140.
