The following were taken from actual incident reports filed last week by the City of Charleston Police Department. These are not convictions and the names of businesses, complainants, and suspects have been left out to protect the innocent. All suspects are  innocent until proven guilty … of course.
SIMPLE ASSAULT | November 28
Two adult brothers got into a fight over a pair of pants on Playground Road, during which one of the brothers punched the other in the face five times with a closed fist. The other brother never once raised his hand. The mother told police she witnessed the event, and the aggressor brother was taken to jail.
CRIMINAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, INTIMIDATION | November 28
A N. Woodmere Drive woman told police that her live-in boyfriend began sending her a series of threatening text messages after accusing her of having an affair. After she left the apartment for the night to stay at a friend’s, the messages began:
*“I am going to make all you stuff like trash and tomorrow I will start trash it,”
*“[Redacted] you. I am going to make it miserable for you over here, bcz you don’t appreciate,”
*”You are liar ad [redacted] as [redacted] ad hell out,”
* “You hurt me and I am going to hurt you. Enough is enough.”
When the woman returned to the apartment the next day, her personal items had been thrown around, and the Christmas tree was on its side. She received another text:
*“Everything can be put back in place where it was before. I was lost and what about my pain??? Look at the other page and feel it, that how much I was sad… All you see is mess. I did not break anything, like you do all the time.”
The woman packed and left.
INJURED PARTY | November 28
Police responded to a Savannah Highway diner in reference to a possible overdose. A co-worker told police that a woman who looked sick began swaying while on the job. The same co-worker took the woman to the bathroom where she repeatedly threw up and then passed out. When police arrived, the woman had managed to walk out to a car in the parking lot and was conscious and alert before being taken to the hospital for further medical evaluation. A nurse at the hospital reported that the woman had methamphetamine, heroin, and marijuana in her system.
AGGRAVATED ASSAULT | November 28
A Hazelwood Drive woman told police that another woman had come to her job at a Sam Rittenberg Boulevard fast-food restaurant and threatened to “jump her” because she had been sleeping with her boyfriend and had gotten him fired from his job at the same restaurant. Once the woman got home the girlfriend approached her and the two got into a physical altercation in which the girlfriend shot the woman in the face with pepper spray. The woman said she then pulled out a box cutter to defend herself. The girlfriend told police that she was actually visiting a friend in the same building and that the woman started the fracas by punching her in the face, and that the woman also cut her multiple times with a razor.
INJURED PARTY | November 30
Police were called to the Charleston Nine Memorial Park on Savannah Highway where they found a man curled face-down on the ground, turning blue. Medical personnel were able to find a pulse and stabilize the man before taking him to the hospital. There were no signs of trauma and a worker at a nearby convenience store said she’d spoken with the man earlier and that he didn’t seem in distress.
SIMPLE ASSAULT | November 30
An 18-year-old high school student told police that between “10 to 15” students jumped him as he got off the school bus at his Ashley River Road apartment complex. He said he was hit all over his body, but mainly in his legs, but that one girl kicked him in the face. An unknown older man from the neighborhood disbursed the attackers. The student said he didn’t know why they wanted to fight him but that this was an ongoing situation.
ATM FRAUD | November 30
A Sam Rittenberg Boulevard bank reported a customer entering a $4,000 deposit into a teller machine, taking money out, but that the envelope was empty. She apparently removed $200 cash and then used her debit card for a negative balance of over $5,000. When contacted, the woman said it was an honest mistake and that she was out of town at her father’s funeral and would make things right when she returned.
