Middleton Place Restaurant is partnering with the South Carolina Aquarium and Charleston’s own LO-Fi Brewing and Holy City Brewing to host a savory end-of-summer with the 4th Annual Hot Nights & Holy City Beer Dinner from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27.
Served adjacent to the Pavilion and overlooking the Greensward, the dinner is an opportunity to showcase the Aquarium’s “Good Catch” program that generates awareness and leads communities in support of healthy fisheries and consumption of responsibly harvested seafood. Middleton Place is a Platinum level partner of the Good Catch program and the only restaurant to twice be awarded “Partner of the Year” honors.
For this year’s dinner, Middleton Place Restaurant Executive Chef Brandon Buck has reached out to sustainable agribusiness St. Jude Farms for fresh-caught shrimp, clams, oysters, and tuna to shape a menu that will be enhanced by produce from the Middleton Place Organic Farm as well as other local sources.
Menu items included Grilled South Carolina Shrimp with Carolina Gold Rice, scallions, serrano peppers and basil from the Organic Farm.; Carolina Tuna Poké enhanced by pickled Bradford watermelon rind and ponzu sauce; Blueberry Wheat Cake with fresh local berries and homemade lemongrass sorbet.
Even the Restaurant’s new smoker, which makes its debut at the dinner, is locally sourced: it’s manufactured by Gorilla Fabrications of North Charleston. A beer draft trailer, similar to that which last visited Middleton Place at the Spoleto Festival Finale, will serve such brews as LO-Fi’s Blueberry Wheat and Holy City’s Pluff Mud Porter.
The Hot Nights & Holy City Dinner will be held Saturday, Aug. 27, from 6-9 p.m. at Middleton Place, located at 4300 Ashley River Road. A flat fee of $75 per person includes gratuities. For reservations,
