When news came down last month that Jericho Inc. was closing it’s office in Avondale, artists and supporters of the local art scene, gave a collective sigh as one of the areas most promising art galleries seemed to be going along with it. 4th Wall, a modern art gallery that was housed in the front of Jericho had brought some really interesting art shows to West Ashley in recent months. And just when it seemed the local scene was picking up steam, the doors were shuttered.
Thankfully, the new tenant Avondale Therapy, which now occupying 815 Savannah Hwy., also has an appreciation for visual art and is going to continue to use the front lobby as an art gallery.
With the goal of keeping a visual art space within the community, Elise Richard, owner of Avondale Therapy, is celebrating her new office space with a special art opening. She has teamed up with Susan Irish of Fabulon Art Center who will be showcasing Fabulon artists at the former 4th Wall space this Friday, Aug. 5, from 5-8 p.m. Exhibiting artists will include Featuring Meyriel Edge, Michael C. Hayes, Vickie Hickman, Susan Irish, Laura McRae-Hitchcock, Jirah Perkins, Hampton. R. Olfus Jr., and Bly Triplett. There will be light refreshments and all art on display will be for sale.
Open reception for the art show will be Friday, Aug. 5, from 5-8 p.m. at Avondale Therapy, located at 815 Savannah Hwy.
