The Pub on 61 is hosting the 2016 Jam Fest Tour from 2 p.m. until 2 a.m. on Saturday, April 9. All proceeds benefit Joy Moja, a non-profit organization that sells handmade products made by artisans in Tanzania in order to provide educational opportunities and fund educational projects in their communities. Tanzania is a developing country on the east coast of Africa. Its future lies in the hands of its children, most of whom lack educational opportunities.
To help with this cause, The Pub on 61 is welcoming 10 bands from all over the Southeast, playing different genres of music, including country, rock, reggae, and blues on two different stages.
The music gets started right at 2 p.m. with Randy Pender, Marilyn Clifford, and Harmonica By Billy Joe. At 3:45 p.m. North Carolina blues rockers Right Turn Clyde take the stage. At 5:30 Georgia’s Trust in Traitors rocks the Pub on 61 stage. Charleston’s own Missy & The Meerkats goes on at 7 p.m., followed by fellow Lowcountry favorites Jamison Alley at 8:30 p.m. Things get kicked into high gear at 10:15 when local original country-Southern rock band Bootless take the stage. Then at 12:15 a.m. Florida reggae band Root of All closes out the evening.
Pre-sale tickets are a donation of $10 and include a pint of beer (for attendees 21+ of course) or soda at the event. If you don’t buy a pre-sale ticket, your $10 donation at the door does not include the drink. The Pub on 61 is located at 2366 Ashley River Road.
