On Saturday, Aug. 15, what would have been Julia Child’s 103rd birthday, The Glass Onion will host its annual celebration dinner in her honor. For $45 per person, dinners can enjoy a special three-course menu for the night. There will be optional French wine pairings for $25 per person. (See menu below.)
Child is recognized for bringing French cuisine to the American public with her debut cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, and her subsequent television programs, the most notable of which was The French Chef, which premiered in 1963.
“The Julia Child Dinner Celebration has become one of our most highly anticipated events we host all year,” stated Glass Onion chef and owner Chris Stewart. “It is fun for the kitchen as it gives us a chance to do something totally off our regular menu. Instead of our traditional all southern, we offer an entire French focused menu based on recipes from Julia’s cookbooks. We have never done the exact same dish twice and are pretty excited about what we have planned for this year.”
This event always sells out, so make reservations now. The Julia Child Birthday Dinner will be held Saturday, Aug. 15 at The Glass Onion, located at 1219 Savannah Hwy. To make reservations to attend the dinner, call 225-1717.
