The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission invites the Lowcountry to get another sneak peek of a future park this spring. In April, Wine Down Wednesday returns to Old Towne Creek County Park.
Old Towne Creek County Park is not yet regularly open to the public, but on select dates in April, Lowcountry residents are invited to experience the beauty of this West Ashley property during Wine Down Wednesday. Guests will enjoy wine, hors d’oeuvres and live music while exploring this hidden gem located in West Ashley.
Old Towne Creek County Park, formerly Ashem Farm, was home to Charleston preservationist Emily Ravenel Farrrow and her St. Andrew’s Riding Academy. The 67-acre estate is dotted with open fields mixed among groves of Live Oaks. There are views of South Carolina’s first English settlement at Charles Towne Landing and the winding of Old Towne Creek through the salt marsh. Currently, the park is only open for programs and private rentals, but along with several other property holdings throughout the Lowcountry, it will one day become a county park available for regular use. Wine Down Wednesday is a great opportunity to get a sneak peek of your future park.
Wine Down Wednesdays debuted in 2013 and returns this year with live music from Matthew Alvanos and food by Hubee D’s from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2. On Wednesday, April 16 there will be music by Justin Machie and food from the Kickin’ Chicken. The final Wine Down Wednesday for April will be Wednesday, April 30 with Triangle Char & Bar providing the food and live music to be announced.
Wine Down Wednesday will take place from 5-7 p.m. on April 2, 16 and 30. Charleston County residents can register in advance for $15. Non-Charleston County residents and day-of admission is $20 per person. Admission fees cover wine, hors d’oeuvres and a commemorative wine glass.
