Show Us Your (Food) Porn

 
Has a photo of a five-layer cheesecake ever made you drool on your computer keys? Or an image of sauce-slathered ribs made you unconsciously lick your fingers and tuck a napkin into your collar?
Jericho Advisors, an investment management and business service company/art gallery in West Ashley understands the incredible power that good food has over the ever-hungry id; and perhaps more importantly, they understand the highly seductive power of the good food photo.
In 2013, Jericho Advisors launched their inaugural Food Phone Photo Show, where amateur photographers and culinary enthusiasts were invited to send in their best smartphone photos taken of divinely inspired foods. They didn’t need to be asked twice.
More than 350 participants ranging from ranchers to home cooks to executive chefs sent in their top food porn photos taken with smartphones and the competition soon reached national levels. Along with receiving a trophy, first, second, and third place winners were also featured in the 2013 Food Phone Photo Show at the gallery along with all officially submitted photos.
This year the rules are the same, but the judges aren’t the type to play with their food. Along with judge Terry Fox, a founding member of Charleston’s Creative Parliament and active participant in the Pecha Kucha Night events, will be judge Sarah O’Kelly, co-founder of the nationally acclaimed Glass Onion restaurant, and judge Jesse Vickers, exclusive designer for the 2013 Charleston Food & Wine Festival and owner of JLV Creative Interior & Event Design.
The award for 2014’s first place winner is the Food Phone Photo Show Trophy, followed by the Golden Fork for second place and the Golden Spork for third. Additionally, Charleston Art Mag will be awarding an official “Artsy” award to a select winner.
There is no cost to enter and no limit on the types of food you can take photos of. If it’s edible, it counts. But if the image is suspected of being taken with something other than a smartphone, judges will toss it out like sour leftovers. There’s also no limit to the number of photos you can submit, but please don’t submit more than one at a time.

Submissions will be accepted until Friday, March 21, at 11:59 p.m. Winners, along with the Top 20 food photos, will be announced at Jericho Advisors during the 2014 Food Phone Photo Show on March 26, 2014.
