No one has seen them together since 1990 and they never did get around to touring, but this Saturday, Dec. 14, they’ll reunite for one epic performance at the Tin Roof … sort of.
Nelson, Otis, Lefty, Charlie T., and Lucky Wilbury, otherwise known as George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, and Bob Dylan of the legendary super group Traveling Wilburys, will be on stage (in spirit) at the Tin Roof at 8 p.m. for the show Rattled: Traveling Wilburys, singing songs from their triple platinum album Traveling Wilburys: Volume 1 and Traveling Wilburys: Volume 3, as well as some of their individual classics.
Sure they might look a little different up close. In the guise of local musicians Scott Dense, Lindsey Holler, Laura Jane Vincent, Danny Infinger, Tim Edgar, Matthew Walker, Jessie Parks, Jenna Ave-Lallemant, Jessa Vaughn, and Lesley Carroll, the Traveling Wilburys will be celebrating all that is Classic American Rock ‘n’ Roll while raising funds for the Phillipine Red Cross.
Guests are welcome to attend dressed as their favorite Wilbury, or just show up in a pair of black sunglasses. Event organizer Kelly Rae Smith will keep a running update of events on the show’s Facebook page, Rattled: Traveling Wilburys, as well as on the Runaround Sue Vintage website at www.runaroundsuevintage.com.
Admission is $5, all of which will go toward the Phillipine Red Cross, which is currently concentrating on disaster relief following the recent typhoon. For more information, please contact Smith at krsmith@gmail.com.
