Winterfest is Coming

It’s beginning to look a lot like … a great time for a community-wide holiday street party!
This weekend, Saturday, Dec. 14, from noon until 6 p.m., the second annual Avondale Holiday Winterfest will welcome everyone to its shops and streets and tables for a day of good fun.
And good shopping!
Sixteen stores, nine restaurants, and dozens and dozens of vendors set up at tables and kiosks, will be ready and waiting in the Avondale Point shopping district. That includes the stores on both sides of Savannah Highway between the Coburg Cow and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
There will be plenty of deals:
Runaround Sue Vintage has promised specials on “classic” holiday sweaters for those heading out to Ugly Christmas Sweater parties. Any Body’s Pilates will be handing-out special one-day deals. And Julia Pagan Local Couture is cutting prices on everything by 25 percent.
West Of sales manager Lindsey Chambers will even be hosting a Re-Trend clothing swap at the paper’s new offices at 811 Savannah Hwy., just down from Avondale Wine & Cheese.
And that’s just a taste of the fun to come. The family-friendly event will include a live deejay spinning music, fire trucks will be on display, prizes will be raffled, special drinks and cookies will be sold to raise money for I HEART Hungry Kids, a local charity founded by Jericho Advisor’s owner Josh Silverman’s son. .
There will be hula-hoopers, a pet photo-booth, a Santa photo “opp,” a local internet radio station, Kinetic Hi-Fi will be live-casting the event, and Voodoo Tiki Bar & Lounge will be hosting the after–party starting at 6 p.m. with festive live Cuban music from Gino Castillo.
The entire event is free and open to the public.

Any Body’s Pilates, Non‘Pa*Reil Photography, and Robyn Leigh Photography.
Participating restaurants include: Al Di La, Pearlz, Voodoo Tike Bar & Lounge, The Roost Bar & Grille, Subway, Oak Barrel Tavern, Triangle Char & Bar, Avondale Wine & Cheese Bar, Gene’s Haufbrau, and Mellow Mushroom.
