Another week and another West Ashley bank has been robbed. On Friday, March 20, the NBSC bank, located at 1870 Sam Rittenberg Blvd., adjacent to Outback Steakhouse was robbed for the second time within two months. And while the suspect from both incidents is similar in description, City of Charleston Police could not confirm if it was in fact the same individual.
Earlier this month the 1st Palmetto Savings Bank on Sumar Street was robbed. A U.S. Marshals task force later arrested a 44-year-old man who had upwards of 40 prior convictions.
But the investigations of the NBSC robberies still remain open.
On Friday at 3:32 p.m. a white male, approximately 5-foot-11, 140 pounds wearing blue jeans, a grey zip-up hoodie with dark writing on the chest area, dark sunglasses, and tennis shoes, entered NBSC and demanded money.
The suspect fled the incident location heading toward I-526. Police have released bank security photos in hopes the public might offer tips leading to an arrest. If contact is made with a subject similar in description, notify the Charleston Police Department at 720-2427 or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
