The financial reward for information leading to an arrest in an October 2013 West Ashley murder case keeps growing and growing.
In the early morning hours of Oct. 8 last year, officers found 18-year-old Malcolm Cornett Jefferson wounded in a shed behind a house on Forbes Avenue in the Maryville neighborhood.
Jefferson, who died later in MUSC, had been shot outside the residence just after midnight and, police surmised, clambered into the shed where neighbors were playing cards.
While the City of Charleston Police Department has an ongoing investigation into the shooting death, Crime Stoppers is looking for a way to help.
Initially, a $1,000 reward was offered for a productive tip. But, thanks to an anonymous donor, that reward has climbed to $8,000.
If anyone has information about this or any other crime, law enforcement officials ask they call Crime Stoppers at (843) 554-1111 or at (888) CRIMESC. Tips may also be submitted at www.5541111.com or by texting to 274637, remembering to begin the text with the letters CSL.
