An employee of a store located on Savannah Highway told police that a man with a gun approached her along the West Ashley Greenway as she skated home from work with her cashed paycheck in hand. When the man walked up to her while brandishing a gun, she got off her skateboard and gave him her pay envelope.
October 18 | Burglary, breaking and entering
An Ashley Hall Plantation Road woman found over $10,000 in personal items had been stolen from her home while she had evacuated for Hurricane Matthew. The items ranged from a cable modem to a $6,700 gold ring. Police found pry marks around the residence’s front door.
October 18 | Bad check
A Savannah Highway hotel reported to police that not only had a guest not paid for a portion of their extended stay, they did so with a bad check. The hotel said the guest owed more than $1,800, but only wrote out a check for a little over $1,200. The bank the check was drawn from said there was not only no money in the account to cover that amount, the account had already been closed.
October 19 | Sex offense, forcible sodomy
A bartender at a St. Andrews Boulevard nightclub told police that he had been sexually assaulted inside the bar. The bartender said he was supposed to close the bar at 1 a.m., but found himself waking up on the floor closer to 3 a.m. with his pants al the way down and the front door of the business unlocked. He said he was experiencing chest pain, as a well as a sore throat and rectum, which he believed were from penetration. The bartender had no recollection of the incident, and that he had not shared any drinks with any patrons.
October 19 | Drugs, narcotics violation
Police officers went with U.S. Marshals to arrest a wanted man at an Jackwood Road residence, and helped chase him through the surrounding neighborhood on foot. A second man was also running with the wanted man, and was arrested. Walking back to the police cruiser, officers found a 9mm pistol on the ground, loaded with 15 rounds. When they returned to the residence, several small baggies of marijuana and another handgun was found underneath a vehicle parked there. This gun was a stolen .40-caliber Glock and had 49 rounds in its drum-style magazine.

The maintenance manager of a St. Andrews Boulevard apartment complex told police that while making his rounds, he found a small Crown Royal bag on the ground the handle of an unloaded pistol sticking out of it. Police were unable to find a serial number on the gun.
October 19 | Injured party
Police responded to a “suicidal party” call from an Ashley River Road medical office. Staff told police that a man there had a weapon and had made threats toward himself. When police arrived, the man had locked himself in the bathroom with a “sawed-off” hammer in his waistband. The man agreed to be transported to a local hospital.

Police arrived at a Parklawn Drive residence where a woman had reportedly been screaming and throwing objects. Police noticed several items shattered in the parking lot near the residence. Once in the apartment, officers noted a variety of thrown and broken items. The woman was standing on a table in the living room, and then jumped off the table and attempted to strike the officers with a vase.
October 20 | Recovered stolen property
Police located a stolen vehicle on Westchase Drive that had come all the way from Texas. Later, a local caller reported their vehicle had been stolen, but was told it was impounded at a police facility, as it was registered to the caller’s stepfather. The caller said his stepfather lent him the car to make the trip, and that he had doctor’s appointment the coming week for his knee and hip.
