The following were taken from actual incident reports filed last week by the City of Charleston Police Department. These are not convictions and the names of businesses, complainants, and suspects have been left off to protect the innocent. All suspects are  innocent until proven guilty, of course.
June 15 | Simple assault
A man driving a buddy and his car home after his buddy drank too much, had to fend off his buddy and pull over on Dunvegan Road and knockout his buddy. The driver said that on the way to his buddy’s home, his buddy woke up in the car and began attacking him, causing him to have to pull over. The driver pulled his buddy out of the car and punched him, rendering him unconscious, and then called police, who later transported his buddy to the hospital due to his level of intoxication.
June 15 | Robbery, firearm
A man was walking home late down Orleans Road after getting off from his fast food job when he heard a man’s voice from behind say, “Just give it up.” Then he turned around to find a shotgun pointed at him. He laid down his computer bag, his wallet and his T-shirt on the ground. The robber, a male, took the bag and wallet and ran off. A shotgun was later found near the corner of Hazelwood and Orleans roads.
June 16 | Telephone, obscene and harassing
A woman living on Ashley Hall Plantation Road reported to police that she had been receiving a series of threatening text messages from a man she knows. After she refused to let the man come over for the night, the man texted that he had a video of her admitting she had AIDS, and if she didn’t let him come over, he’d make that video public. He threatened to send it to her parents, post it on Facebook, and send it to a local television station.
June 16 | All other larceny
A High Tide Road man called police to complain that an $8,000 infrared camera had been stolen off his porch. The man said an overnight delivery company was supposed to gather a signature when they delivered it, due to its value, but instead just left it on his porch.
June 18 | Drunkenness
A detective from the county solicitor’s office called for assistance after finding a man dressed in dark clothes while riding one bike and “towing” another down the middle turn lane of Savannah Highway. When police arrived, they found the man and two bicycles laid down in the middle of the road. An officer noticed a strong smell of alcohol emanating from the man, who was unsteady on his feet. When asked how much he’d had to drink that night, the man replied, “enough to make me feel good.”
June 18 | Robbery with a firearm
A man walking down Savannah Highway said a sedan pulled up alongside him with three people inside, one of whom pointed a small pistol at him an told him to hand over his wallet and phone. Before the car drove off, the man bearing the gun said, “If you tell anyone, I’ll kill you.” The car then drove off in the direction of the Ardmore neighborhood.
June 18 | Drug violation
Police arrived at the corner of Ashley River and Ashley Hall Plantation roads to find a truck hemmed in by two other cars. The driver of one of the cars said the truck had been swerving all over the road, so he pulled in front of it and forced it to pull off the road. Another driver pulled up behind the truck. When the driver of the first car got out of his vehicle and went to speak to the driver of the truck, he found a man behind the wheel, slumped over asleep, drooling, with an aerosol can in his lap with a red tube sticking up out of it. When police searched the truck, they found two such cans, both cold to the touch. The man claimed they were for his work.
June 18 | Aggravated assault
Police arrived at an Ashley Hall Plantation Road apartment and found one of its residents with a big “knot” on the side of his head, as well as cuts and scratches all over his body. The man said the injuries came from his nephew, who lives there. The man said he asked his nephew for some money he’d given him earlier to purchase some marijuana. After the nephew returned the money, he went into his room and began playing music very loudly. When the uncle went to the room to get him to turn down the volume so he and the rest of his family could sleep, the two began pushing each other, and a fight ensued that included the nephew hitting his uncle in the head with a vase.
