The following were taken from actual incident reports filed last week by the City of Charleston Police Department. These are not convictions and the names of businesses, complainants, and suspects have been left off to protect the innocent. All suspects are  innocent until proven guilty, of course.
February 18 | Intimidation
A Westchase Drove resident went to police to complain that a woman had been sending her threatening texts and Facebook messages. “Trust I’m gonna ruin you,” read one; “I just got a Hit-man [sic], my new mission is to ruin her,” read another. The alleged victim claimed the woman hacked into her Facebook account and posted nude photos of the victim.
February 18 | Forgery
Police responded to a Sam Rittenberg Boulevard bank where a man allegedly attempted to cash a $700 check made out to him from his mother’s account, which he allegedly had stolen last week and filled out himself.
February 18 | Simple assault
Police arrested a man at a Savannah Highway motel room where he had routinely attacked and struck others staying there over a several-hour period while watching one of the “Riddick” series of movies. At one point, a second man and his girlfriend locked themselves into the bathroom so they could call police for help. The first man claimed he was trying to protect the woman from her boyfriend.
February 18 | Injured party
A Carriage Lane mother of two went into the bathroom, and when she returned to the kitchen she found her 3-year-old pouring Ajax into the mouth of her 10-month-old. The younger child immediately began to vomit and the mother took them both to the hospital. Staff there said there were no signs the child had ingested any of the cleaner, and after a period of observation, sent the family home.
February 19 | Robbery with a firearm
A man approached an officer saying that two men assaulted him earlier during a drug transaction at an Ashley River Road apartment complex. The man claimed he was attempting to purchase narcotics when one of the two men pointed a handgun at him and then “choked him out.” The man said the robbers made out with hundreds of dollars of his money and his iPhone.
February 19 | Theft from a vehicle
A new bride told police that someone broke into the trunk of her car at the William Kennerty Drive address where she had just gotten married. The thief or thieves made off with thousands of dollars of belongings, including her $1,000 wedding dress and $400 bracelet.
February 19 | Drugs violation
Police executed a warrant at a Courtenay Lane address, using force to enter the locked door, and found the two residents in a bedroom. Multiple officers swept the residence and collected the following: 4.6 grams of a white powdery substance that tested positive for crystal meth, 8.25 ounces of bath salts, several glass pipes, four digital scales, cutlery with drug residue, a variety of ziploc bags, and more than $1,700 in cash.
February 19 | Death investigation
Police responded to a Jessamine Road residence after a woman reported having entered her co-worker’s home and found him dead in a recliner, covered with a blanket. During a sweep of the scene, the coroner found a glass next to the recliner with a foamy white substance, a check, and letter explaining how the man wanted to be cremated.
