Singer, songwriter, photographer, journalist Allen Coté plays Home Team BBQ

Allen Coté is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, and multimedia artist, originally from Austin, Tex. and currently based in Milwaukee, Wis. Coté received his Bachelor's in English at Southwestern University, and spent several years as a fixture in the Austin music scene and a veteran of the SXSW music festival.

Coté is well-versed in guitar, bass, lap steel, ukulele, mandolin, and various percussion. His original compositions range from folk to avant-garde electronica. He often plays a solo or with various ensembles. You can catch him in the friendly confines of Home Team BBQ on Tuesday, July 31.

Coté and John Crockett have twice presented their sound installation "Tonal Motion" at the acclaimed Milwaukee Art Museum, and are in the process of refining the installation for further exhibitions. A former journalist, Coté's photography has been featured in The Williamson County Sun, The Austin Chronicle, and High Times magazine; and was auctioned off for charity at Southwestern University's "A Day Without Art" exhibition. He has also contributed writing to The Williamson County Sun, the WMSE Sonic Diet blog, and Fan-Belt.com.

Currently, Coté composes the music for local culinary show Wisconsin Foodie, airing several times weekly around the state on Wisconsin Public Television. He also provides music to marketing and new media firms, and teaches guitar lessons at Milwaukee Montessori School.
