Since she was a little girl, Kaylin Doctor has always played volleyball. Her first memory of playing was in the 3rd grade, when she got her first spike. Today, as a senior, Doctor has been continuing her spiking streak by playing for the West Ashley High School volleyball team at the left front position.
“Kaylin is a great athlete and an even better leader for both JV and Varsity,” says head coach Sarah Havel. “She has such a strong passion for the game; it’s one of my favorite things about her.”
In the latest volleyball game against Goose Creek, WAHS started off the game slowly, but towards the end, Doctor’s enthusiasm and love for the game got all the other team members pumped up and ready to win, leading West Ashley to a 2-1 victory with eight kills, 1 block, and 2 digs.
Doctor’s love for the game is beyond imaginable. When asked what her hobbies were, she stated, “Volleyball is my life; It’s all that I do.” One of the things that has impressed Coach Havel is that “she is always looking to improve and is always looking for ways to score the next point. Her teammates look up to her and that’s a great quality to have in a Senior Captain.”
