Holiday Cheer, West Ashley-style

There may not be snow on the ground, but some West Ashley business owners want to get you in the holiday spirit this weekend with the third annual Avondale Holiday Winterfest. In addition to great shopping deals and food and drink specials at participating Avondale businesses, Winterfest will also feature more than 25 vendors selling locally-made goods. There will also be live music, dramatic Christmas storytelling, a holiday photo booth, and much more. It will be held Saturday, Dec. 13, from 12-6 p.m. Admission is free.
Avondale Winterfest will happen all around the Avondale area from Nicholson Drive all the way up to the Coburg Cow Shopping Center. Look for great deals and special happenings inside participating businesses, including Al Di La, AlphaGraphics, Avondale Wine & Cheese, Bashful Boutique, Charleston Community Yoga, Classic Coffee, Consigning Women, Gala Desserts, Gene’s Haufbrau, Gullah Gourmet, Jericho Advisors & Gallery, Lava Salon, Mellow Mushroom, Non`Pa*Reil Photography, Orange Theory Fitness, Pearlz Little Oyster Bar, South State Bank, and SpaceCraft Studios, Strawberry Blonde Salon, Subway, The Roost Bar & Grill, Triangle Char & Bar, Voodoo Tiki Bar & Lounge, and Wild Birds Unlimited.
The area businesses will be offering specials during Winterfest. Some include: $3 Winterfest lattes (made with white chocolate peppermint bark sauce, topped with crushed peppermint) from Classic Coffee, $5 small pizzas from Mellow Mushroom, 6 combos for $6 from Subway, 20% off from Bashful Boutique, 10 shiny foils (highlights) for $50 at Strawberry Blonde Salon, special infused holiday cocktails from Voodoo Tiki Bar & Lounge, and much more!
Vendors selling local products include SheSells Candles, Ecolibrio, The Fresh Stitch, The Banner Sisters, Reclaimed Inspirations, Scott Keyes Design + Build LLC, JK Designs, Bella & Oliver Soap Co., Kendal Leonard Designs, Hooks & Toggles, Patrick and Jane LLC, PULP, Art Board Co, The Cake Farmer, Mission Essentials, Huriyali Juices, Holy Smoke Olive Oil, Provider Baby Rags, Ashley’s Herbals, Runaround Sue Vintage, and Artist & Craftsman Supply.
Charleston Center for Photography will have a Holiday Photo Booth inside a custom Airstream trailer from Roll With It Enterprises. Mahmood Fazal Photography will take Holiday Pet Photos at Non`Pa*Reil Studio, located at 811 Savannah Hwy. Actors from Storytree Theatre will be reading children’s Christmas stories between 1-3 p.m. The City Charleston Fire Department will also bring out one of their fire engines for the children from 12-3 p.m. There’s also been some talk that old Santa Clause himself may make an appearance in Avondale.
There is also a charity element to the Avondale Holiday Winterfest with area businesses collection money to benefit Avondale-based non-profit I Heart Hungry Kids, which helps feed needy children in the Charleston area.
