In Dist. 11, Chris Cannon is challenging incumbent Bill Moody. Cannon, who has worked in tourism for more than three decades, consistently runs for one office or another. Moody is a retired accountant and former head of
the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce.
INCUMBENT: Bill Moody
Elected in 2011, councilman Bill Moody serves on the Human Resources Committee, Real Estate Committee, is the vice chair of the Ways and Means Committee, and serves as chair of the Traffic and Transportation Committee. Besides his experience as an accountant and head of the Chamber, Moody serves or has served on numerous boards. Moody vehemently opposes the Ashley River Bridge pedestrian lane and is a strong proponent of finishing I-526.
CHALLENGER: Chris Cannon
While relatively new to West Ashley, challenger Chris Cannon is not new to dealing with issues that face this part of town. He sees many ways to improve Charleston and the West Ashley area in particular. His main platforms are flooding issues, tourism issues, responsible development, and traffic issues, such as completing I-526, which he strongly supports.
