The Charleston Police Department will host an informal drop-in at the Savannah Highway Chic-fil-A Wednesday, Jan. 22, beginning at 8 a.m.
The event dovetails with similar series of nationwide events whose intent is to improve relationships between police officers and community members “one cup of coffee at a time.”
Everyone in the community is invited to attend and to take advantage of a unique opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the department’s work in the city’s neighborhoods.
This event will create a low-key, informal environment that will likely be in contrast to the manner in which most interactions with police take place – like during emergencies or emotional situations.
Because of the nature of those situations, it can be hard for relationships to build between department employees and the community they serve. Here, officers will be available on a more approachable, one-on-one basis.
If you have questions about this event, or would like to find out about a possible next event, contact Lt. David Bridges at 720-2440.
