With strong encouragement from business and community leaders, West Ashley businessman Kevin Shealy announced today that he will seek Charleston City Council’s District 2 seat in November to offer ethical, professional, business leadership to city government.

“As a lifelong West Ashley resident, I am passionate about preserving and protecting what makes our community unique and special, while also working to improve the quality of life we enjoy,” said Shealy. “There is no denying that our area is changing quickly. I believe strongly that we need more elected officials we can all be proud of who are truly committed to the present and future of West Ashley. We need more leaders in elected office who fully understand that the decisions they make today will shape the quality of life had for many generations. While I am proud to give back to our community through many service organizations, my church, and coaching at the playgrounds, I know that I can do even more for the people, businesses and neighborhoods of West Ashley on City Council. It is for that reason that I announce my candidacy to represent West Ashley on Charleston City Council.”

A third-generation Charlestonian, Shealy is a graduate of Middleton High School and Newberry College. After years of service as a manager with Charleston County Parks and as an Assistant Athletic Director at Charleston Southern University, Shealy has been in the insurance industry for more than 20 years. He is the owner and operator of the Kevin Shealy Insurance Agency on Ashley River Road. Shealy and his wife, Stacey, have two daughters and live in the Providence Commons / Forest Lake Extension neighborhood.
