Popular Italian eatery Al Di La is whisking patrons away to Spoleto, Italy during Charleston’s annual Spoleto Festival USA starting this week. In honor of the annual international performing arts festival, Al Di La is offering diners a regional tasting menu of dishes indigenous to our sister city, along with a variety of Umbrian wines to compliment the flavors of these selections. In fact, if guests so wish, they can enjoy a Spoletian wine flight, which is equal to a bottle but showcases three different Umbrian varietals.
“By offering delicious dishes native to Spoleto, Italy we are hoping to entice diners to get in the spirit of the Spoleto Festival and all it has to offer,” says co-owner Gillian Kohn. The Spoletian menu offering includes dishes such as Strangozzi Spoletina, a house-made pasta, sausage, pancetta, cream, nutmeg and lemon zest; Gallina Ubriaca, a red wine braised chicken, farro and spring peas, and Cavatelli Spoletina, a pasta with tomatoes, red pepper, garlic, and olive oil.
There are three courses available for $24, or four courses for $32 or the dishes can be ordered a la carte. The promotion begins Wednesday, May 22 and runs through Saturday, June 8. Al Di La will be opening its doors at 4:30 p.m. each day of the festival so patrons have time to enjoy dinner before the 7pm performances. The regular menu will be served during this time, but will not be included in the Spoletian tasting promotion.
