University of South Carolina football fans will have the opportunity to say “thank-you” and “good luck” one of the most exciting players for the Gamecocks over the last several years. Wide receiver and kick returner Bruce Ellington will be at Manny’s Neighborhood Grille this Saturday, March 15, 6-9 p.m. to sign autographs and take photos with fans.
Ellington is a two-sport standout who also plays point guard on the Gamecock’s basketball team. However, his future seems to be pointing towards a career in the NFL. After recently running a 4.31 40-yard-dash at USC’s Pro Day, many draft experts are projecting Ellington to be a second-round draft pick. He has caught 106 passes as a Gamecock fore more than 1,500 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Ellington graduated from Berkeley High where, as a quarterback, he led the Stags to the Division II-AAAA state championship in 2009. With USC Ellington had a chance to show off his QB skills, throwing a touchdown to quarterback Connor Shaw in the Capital One Bowl against Wisconsin in his final game as a Gamecock. The year before Ellington caught the game-winning touchdown pass with just seconds remaining in the Gamecock’s victory against Michigan in the Outback Bowl. Ellington was also a kick returner while at USC.
A fan favorite, Ellington will be missed at South Carolina for his acrobatic catches and explosive kick returns. Drop by this Saturday, March 15, from 6-9 p.m. to meet the future NFL star at Manny’s Neighborhood Grille, located at 1680 Old Town Road. For more information, call 763-3908.
