It looks like Anakin Skywalker has turned to the dark side. Last Wednesday, June 17, Jake Broadbent, best known as the actor who portrayed a young Anakin Skywalker from Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, was arrested after driving speeds as high as 117 through West Ashley and into Colleton County.
The 26-year old actor was spotted driving a brown Nissan with Colorado plates at a high rate of speed, weaving in and out of cars heading south on Savannah Highway. According to the police report , at this point, he would have only been charged with reckless driving. But when a county sheriff’s cruiser turned on his blue lights and sirens and attempted to stop Broadbent, he reportedly sped up to an even higher rate of speed. As he passed another deputy, he was witnessed approaching Parkers Ferry Road near Jacksonboro speeding in and out of traffic, passing cars on the median, and swerving into the northbound lane.
According to the police report Broadbent made a sharp right turn onto Highway 64, towards Walterboro. After the high-speed chase crossed into Colleton County, the supervising officer advised pursuing deputies to pull back and allow Colleton County deputies to take the lead on the pursuit.
Once they were able to get the vehicle to stop, Broadbent was arrested by Colleton County deputies failure to stop for blue lights.
